Bus on Fire!

This was the excitment for the day at my office. The engine on a Metro Bus caught fire just ourtside my office window. It is abit hard to see given the pitiful zoom on my camera phone, but you get the idea.

Keegan was having so much fun he refused to come down. I had to crawl inside the kid sized labarynth and escort him down the slide so we could continue shopping.

At the Park

Katie Jean had Dr appointment this morning so I went with and took the kids to a nearby park while we waited. What fun it is to watch them play together.

We borrowed this double stroller so we could actually run. We let Fiona get out for the last block and a half and she sprinted all the way to the finish line!

Long day at the Beach

Shopping with Grandma

We had a wonderful time at Mitosis 2008 and Fiona and Keegan stayed with Grandma overnight. On her way back with the kids on Saturday, she thought it would be fun to take the kids to Costco. Things started out great with the kids sharing samples.





Then it started to go downhill when Keegan decided that he didn't want any hugs.


Grandma decided that it was time to leave the store and head on to Monroe before he had a meltdown. Once in the parking lot, she gave them each a chocolate chip cookie, which cheered Keegan up right away.

Keegan continued to devour his cookie on the short ride to our house. However, when he finally got here, we wondered how much of the cookie actually made it into his mouth.

They brought in the big crane early this morning. It looks like they are working on supporting the brick facade before they tear into the roof.

Wow! I am gone for one week and they have half the building torn down.

Boulder Creek Trail

There is creek trail that runs through the heart of Boulder and passes right behind the conference Hotel. On teh one day that we finished before sundown, I took a walk down the trail to the east edge of town. When the sun dropped behind the mountains on my way back to the hotel, I snapped this shot.

Blue Lake trail

I found an REI just a few blocks from the conference Hotel. A bit small compared to the Seattle Flagship store but still a great way to kill some time.

This map contains the trail to Blue lake, which my Father and I took when I was just 13 yrs old. Some day I will take my own kids to that same lake.

The Spot Bouldering Gym

It's my 1st night in Boulder after a long flight and a half day pre-conference session. I did some research before I left to find this gym and it did not disappoint. The place was packed and climbers were stuck to the rocks like geckos the whole time. I had intended to buy a day pass and join in but decided to just watch for a while instead. I didn't feel like spending $25 just to embarrass myself in front of these practiced boulder climbers.

Book Recommendation

With the recent death of both my grandparents, I have been thinking a lot more about estate planning. After some time looking through the books available at Barnes & Noble, this one seems to have the best of waht we need.
